Aloe has been through a lot in her young life. We rescued her from an over crowded shelter needing surgery on her back leg. We soon found out she was also expecting puppies. Still unable to walk more than a few steps, Aloe delivered a beautiful litter of pups and was the best mom, raising gorgeous puppies who have all since been adopted. Aloe is a young girl - about a 1.5 years old - and a stunning black Lab. She is both house and crate trained in her foster home and is fostered with several other dogs. Aloe walks nicely on leash but will startle with loud noises or people who are coming toward her. She knows to sit and wait and relax as we work through her worries. She loves her backyard and plays with the other dogs. Her prey drive is high and she looks for little creatures to chase and catch. She minds very well and is affectionate toward her foster family. Aloe's challenge is letting new people into her life. Once she trusts her new family she is good for life. In her foster home she is a normal playful, happy, calm and a typical Lab. She struggles transitioning to a new home. We would be willing to work with a new family setting up several meets with Aloe at her foster home first, followed by short visits in your home. This will allow her to bond and transition to her new home successfully. She sleeps on her dog bed at night and is a wonderful house guest in her foster home. The ideal family for Aloe would be a family who first and foremost loves Labs, who is patient and willing to slowly transition her to your home. A family in their later years who live a quieter life and who are home more often would be nice for Aloe.
